Each person's personality, habits, and energy were considered. The intent was to give something personal that related to our relationship and also the spiritual focus of my life. We identified three main aspects to Moxie's life: security, sailing, and anarchy. These qualities are embodied in the symbol of the sextant which represents navigation, self-reliance and a sort of analogue freedom. It was important for the website to move beyond the expected stereotypes of these qualities. So we created an immersive but refined experience that is at once playful and serious. Eight days after the devastating earth quake and tsunami hit Japan, I put together a team to launch a one day, global shopping event that would benefit the Japanese people. I created the custom logotype, symbol, helped name the company. The strategy of the name and logo was to create an inviting, memorable, and social experience. To promote the app at an upcoming Bay Area conference, I created stickers that people could make their own. Instead of overtly promoting the app, I wanted to start conversations. They serve as an analogue version of the app, which has the same purpose.
